It all started with a gift...
George A. Spiva Center for the Arts is looking forward to 2023 – our 75th year – in our new home, the state-of-the-art Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex. We are excited for the future and hope you are as well.
As I have been learning more of Spiva’s history in my new role as Executive Director, it struck me that this whole legacy of creative expression was given as a gift to the community by George and Agnes Spiva. They believed that artists coming together to share their creations, and be in community with one another, could enhance their work. Having a place to exhibit it could encourage them and inspire others to join them. The Spiva’s commitment to educational classes, exhibits and community outreach are indeed the core values we continue to build on today. We welcome all those that share in these interests and passion.
I’m writing today to ask your continued support for these program offerings through our Annual Fund giving campaign, “The Gift of Giving”, with your financial donation to Spiva Center for the Arts. As we settle into our new home at the Cornell Complex, we don’t completely know the needs for this first year until we experience them – in terms of utilities, maintenance, and other expenses. We have the same base budget with larger dreams and ideas. Your support becomes more important than ever to have a strong funding to rely on as we monitor our predictions closely in the upcoming year and to move Spiva forward while celebrating our 75th anniversary.
May I count on you to help the Spiva team assure that our first year in our new home continues to encourage, support, and educate area artists? To help the team spread the word about this beautiful new home that will house amazing regional and national exhibits and provide even more classes to our area youth and adults? To continue to give the gift that George Spiva’s vision has created? Your financial gift will be used wisely and will fill the needs of this vibrant arts center that continues to grow, expand, and serve even more people at the Cornell Complex.
Might I ask another favor? Please call or stop by to meet me at Spiva! As you can imagine, I stepped into this role at a very busy time, and it has been an exciting one. My priority is to support the team and serve our artists, members, and Spiva supporters. I would love to get to know you and hear your stories of past involvement and ideas for the future of our amazing arts center.
I thank you in advance for your tax-free donation to Spiva Center for the Arts and all it means to this community. It is an honor for all of us to continue to grow the legacy of so many who came before us in helping this area celebrate the creative experience.
